Rachel Koncurat

Ms. Koncurat grew up in Bel Air, Maryland.

Ms. Koncurat’s town didn’t have a Junior High. She attended Southampton Middle School.

I had a lot of wonderful junior high school teachers, but one that really sticks out to me was my choir teacher, Mrs. Fetters. I loved how funny she was, and how she felt like a real person. She made me laugh, treated us with respect, and didn't seem to mind too much when my friends and I would bug her before school. I was pretty insecure in middle school, and it meant a lot to me to have such a genuine teacher because it made me feel like I could be myself too.

In 8th grade, I was in a really chaotic production of Into the Woods where the rehearsals were going so badly that my friends and I held secret extra rehearsals at my house and sat on my trampoline and read through our lines. It still ended up being the world’s worst production of Into the Woods, but I have a lot of happy memories of spending time with my friends that year.
